Did you know that this week is Banned Books Week?

Celebrate your intellectual freedom and read a book that has been challenged or banned somewhere in the country.

I seem to have read a lot of the 42 from the Radcliffe list. Some of them, like Naked Lunch I totally understand, but recently *Shel Silverstein* has been challenged.

People are stupid.

Apparently, the university libraries doesn't celebrate BBW because "it's more of a public libraries thing". I guess the thinking is because we don't ban books, we don't worry about this sort of thing.

Annoying, but it's hard to stir any enthusiasm when nothing in this particular library has ever or will ever be challenged. Unless all of a sudden the ASTM Standards are targeted. Hmm. That would be an interesting development.
